Dr Abdul Razakjr Bin Omar is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.

He treats general cardiology and cardiac arrhythmia, particularly conditions like palpitation, fainting and sudden cardiac arrest. He also performs cardiac catheterisation study and interventional therapy including minimally invasive, percutaneous coronary intervention, cardiac electrophysiology study, radiofrequency catheter ablation, and implantation of pacemakers and cardioverter defibrillators.

He was a former consultant cardiologist and clinical director, cardiac electrophysiology and pacing at the National University Heart Centre, Singapore. He later joined a private hospital as its consultant cardiologist. He was made managing partner and later deputy medical director there.

Dr Abdul Razakjr graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and obtained his master’s there. He was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan award to do cardiology fellowship at the University of Toronto, Toronto General Hospital, University Health Network, Canada. He was conferred as a fellow of the Academy of Medicine and the American College of Cardiology. He has more than 25 years of clinical experience.

He is an assistant professor at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He was also an adjunct associate professor at Lee Kong Chian/Imperial College London School of Medicine.

Dr Abdul Razakjr has been invited as a lecturer and faculty for local and international cardiology meetings. He was also involved in scientific research and his works were published in peer-reviewed international journals. He was the specialty editor of the Singapore Medical Journal and honorary secretary of the Singapore Medical Association.

He is a board member of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) and the previous chairman of the outreach committee at NKF. Currently, he is the chairman of the MediFund committee, Ang Mo Kio-Thye Hua Kwan Hospital and a member of People’s Association, Ang Mo Kio Community Club Management Committee. He also sits on the Singapore Medical Council’s complaints panel.

He was the member of the board of trustees for the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) and was a member of academic advisory committee of SIT. Notably, he was appointed by the Honourable Chief Justice to be a member of inquiry panel and was also appointed as member of the committee to review the salaries of the president, prime minister, political appointment holders and members of Parliament.

In 2013, Dr Abdul Razakjr was conferred the Berita Harian, Singapore Press Holdings, Achiever of the Year award.
